Static V Luxe SL Sleeping Pad

The Static V Luxe SL™ is a lightweight, luxury sleeping pad. The sleeping pad is the thickest pad in the Static Series line at 3.5”. It’s the perfect balance of weight, width, and length in a luxury size. Slightly slimmer than the Static V Luxe™, weight is trimmed by using a lightweight fabric and a slight taper at the bottom third of the pad. The exclusive V-chamber design conforms to the shape of your body while maintaining ample, lofted air pockets. The result: side, back, and stomach sleepers can all rest comfortably on a generous bed of air.

The R-Value measures a sleeping pad's insulation ability, specifically how well it resists heat loss to the ground. A higher R-Value means better warmth and comfort, making it essential for cold-weather camping.

What does the ASTM standard mean for sleeping pad R-Values?

ASTM F3340-18 is the industry-standard test used to measure a pad’s R-Value. It ensures consistent, reliable results across brands, helping you compare pads and choose the right one for your needs. While not all Klymit sleeping pads have been tested to this standard yet, we are actively working through the process to provide ASTM-rated R-Values across our lineup.

How does the ASTM standard apply to Klymit pads?

While ASTM testing provides a standardized way to compare sleeping pad insulation, it does not always account for the unique design of Klymit pads. Many Klymit sleeping pads feature deep V-chamber welds, which are specifically engineered to trap and insulate air pockets beneath your sleeping bag. This design enhances warmth by reducing convective heat loss and working in tandem with your sleep system, often outperforming its ASTM-rated R-Value in real-world conditions. As a result, traditional R-Value testing may not fully reflect the insulation benefits experienced when using Klymit pads in the field.
